Trying to make a dramatic image of the Dientner range is like trying to say something interesting about Mungrisdale Common, a difficulty Alfred Wainwright found himself in when he was producing his guidebooks to the English Lake District. He settled on "like a pudding that has been sat on". Quite a good description for these rounded grassy hills too, sandwiched shyly as they are between the giants of the Hohe Tauern and Berchtesgaden. This image has been contrivedly smuggled in here to fill a blank, a habit that undoubtedly goes back to my stamp collecting days. I don`t mind as long as you don`t.
