| None of the 30 children who set out to visit the Kitzlochklamm in 1974 would have done so had they known what was to happen that terrible day. The predecessor to this bridge here was not able to cope with their combined weight as they posed together on it for a group photo. It collapsed, precipitating all of them into the gorge below, not hugely far, perhaps 15 metres, but enough to kill 8 of them and severely injure the rest. The new bridge looks built to withstand a 10-ton truck as a result. The debris here is presumed to be of that collapsed bridge. |
