I haven`t dived quite enough of the world`s waters to say this categorically, but in all likelihood you will not find a bluer blue in all of nature than in those of Ras Mohamed Reef near Sharm el Sheikh. Photographed here with a Nikonos V, which has sadly seen no action since these images were taken in 1995.
Much to the consternation of the divemaster at our resort, my brother and I took a two-day beak from the undersea world, and hired a car with which to penetrate the Sinai interior. Hidden there lies Jebel Musa, thought to be Moses` Mount Sinai, famous for being the one place where God actually wrote something by His own Hand, namely the Ten Commandments.
The top of the mountain is distastefully touristy, but the pre-dawn ascent is worthwhile for the clarity of the stars in the desert sky.
What a combo for a week`s holiday from Europe - Ras Mohamed and Mount Sinai. Can`t be beat.
