The casual visiting tourist from Europe will have a glossier impression of rodeo than a well-informed American. This sport that "glorifies youth and vigour, but shatters them both", that is "sentimental about its link with nature, its animals, but is rough on them". (Michael Parfit National Geographic magazine article, September 1999).
Gotta love those pro-active clowns though. None of your warming up the audience with a few jokes for them!
This sequence was taken at Lakeside, near San Diego, 2001.
