On the one hand, photographs of Disneyland, Los Angeles, may seem as out of place on a site titled "images from the wild" as are golf balls in the wilderness of Death Valley. On the other hand, life is illuminated by its contrasts. So perhaps if you arrive in LA by car, having driven through Death Valley, you might appreciate this tourist attraction rather more than say if you fly in from Las Vegas. Do that journey in reverse and the illumination will be more powerful however, as my wife and I can testify, with only two incongruous dustbins for company in the silent, desolate, glorious emptiness.
