That red is one of the predominant colours of the rocks in the sun-sorched desert of southern Nevada seems highly appropriate. When the rays of the sun pass horizontally through many miles of atmospheric dust, namely at sunrise and sunset, this redness sometimes takes on a Mars-like quality as seen in this picture. It was taken close to the northern city limits of Las Vegas. It somehow got overlooked while file-sorting for the thumbnails below.
