There are not many places where precipitous mountains tower over beaches quite like they do here. The compressive effect of a telephoto lens was not needed to create that impression in these photos. For, as the crow flies, they are indeed close to each other, and it was natural to include both together in many of these images.
But try to penetrate inland on foot and actually surmount one of these peaks, well, that`s another matter entirely. Thick, untamed jungle will bar your way, and local environmentalists might not be too happy about you taking a machete to hack your way through it. So these peaks remain in the strictly for looking at category. I suppose with sufficient effort they could be climbed, but as the mountaineer Doug Scott once remarked to Dougal Haston, "we know we could, so why bother?"
