I was in frenetic time lapse mode in Madeira in the Autumn of 2010, with not much space left in my head for still photography, although of course time lapse is merely a compressed collection of still photographs. The following are offered as "scraps" from the table.
You`ll notice how burnt some of the vegetation looks. We arrived only a month after a colossal island-wide fire that devastated many thousands of acres of upland forest and mountain bush. Tragic. And apparently started by a disgruntled local who had lost his patience with the government, and who deemed it fit to extract revenge in a particularly cruel and destructive way, arson. The once "green Madeira" is, for the foreseeable future, green and brown Madeira.
